Prayer to St. Jude for Eternal Life

You are my solace, St. Jude, in the face of loss and sorrow.

I pray that you will guide my heart away from the darkness of fear and into the light of Christ.

May the hope that St. Jude keeps alive in my heart be a source of comfort to all those who grieve.

For in that hope, we know God's tender mercy, and we trust God's promise of eternal life.

My soul longs for the fullness of life, which will be revealed to me when I am at God's right hand in heaven.

Stay by my side, St. Jude, so that my soul will always know the power of your healing love.

Prayer to St. Peregrine

St. Peregrine

St. Peregrine,

You answered your calling with a ready spirit, and gave up the comforts of a life of ease to dedicate yourself to Jesus and His Holy Mother.

You labored for the salvation of souls. In union with Jesus, you endured painful sufferings with such patience that you were healed of an incurable cancer in your leg by a touch of His divine hand.

Help me to answer every call of God and to fulfill His will in all the events of life. Place in my heart a consuming desire for the salvation of all.

Deliver me from the infirmities that afflict my body, and help me to willingly accept the sufferings that are sent to me so that, imitating our crucified Savior and his sorrowful Mother, I may one day be united with them in heave.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,

You care for us and provide us with all that we need.

You shower us with your love and send people into our lives to help care for us, especially in times of sickness or pain.

I pray for healing for myself and for all who suffer because of illness or advanced age.

Women & Spirit: Catholic Sisters In America

Mark and I visited the Women & Spirit: Catholic Sisters In America exhibit at the Dallas Women's Museum on September 26, 2009.

As a Catholic, this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that helped me understand the role of the Catholic Sisters in education, medicine and social services in the United States through the years.

I hope the photos can tell a better story than I could ever tell.

The New Associate Pastor

The new associate pastor, nervous about hearing confessions, asks an older priest to listen in. Several penitents later, his mentor offers a few suggestions.

"Cross your arms over your chest and rub your chin with one hand," he says. "Try saying things like, "I see, yes, go on. I understand. How did you feel about that?"

The new priest tries out the words and gestures. The old priest says, "Good, now, don't you think that's a little better than slapping your knee and saying, 'No way! You did what?'
